Today has been back to back busy. My plan for today was to get my Barcelona skirt made. Two nights ago I ripped all the seams I did early in the day out with plans of starting over again. When I tried it on it was way too big, and since I am not finished losing weight ripping the seams out was the right thing to do. I don’t want to give this skirt away, and as big as it was I would have.
The pattern calls for an invisible zipper. The first time around I just threw a regular polyester zipper in. I didn’t want to wait for my next trip to town to get my skirt made. Yesterday I bought an invisible zipper and put it in today. (It was my first invisible zipper experience, but it won’t be the last. It went smooth as silk, and I really like the way they look.) The vintage sheet makes a lovely skirt…somewhat busy, but so am I.

We had a lot of company today so I didn’t get anything but the outer skirt finished. This pattern (Amy Butler’s Barcelona Skirt) has a lining, too. I like that idea, because no slip is required…and it won’t be see through. A slip in the summertime in Southeast Mississippi is a miserable thing to wear. I’ve decided to make the lining out of white, cotton gauze. It won’t add any warmth.
One of our visitors was a cute as a button, skinny thin, young lady. She loved the b&w apron and was anxious to model it for me so I could share a picture on here.

Doesn’t she look precious?
Until next time,
remember,
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven. Matthew 5:16
I’ve got sunshine in my soul!

You just have a knack for lovely work and lovely models
that is a beautiful apron. whoever gets it will be blessed…
Thank you, Rosie.
Judy, I really like the vintage sheet for your skirt fabric. I look forward to seeing you in it! Have a blessed day in the Lord. Love from Heather
skirt pictures coming up….
i finished it last night about 11:00.
i just couldn’t wait any longer.
I’ve been meaning to try that same skirt pattern. I have a pretty busy fabric picked out for it too. Have you ever checked out burdastyle.com for patterns? It’s kind of a pain in the butt to print out and assemble the patterns, but they are great styles and you can’t beat free. Great verse by the way, a well needed inspiration on a friday afternoon.
Heather, we can’t beat the vintage sheet fabric for price. I’m loving this one, too. And…I picked up another piece yesterday that will likely be my next skirt with this pattern.
Good to see you, Liz. I’ll check out that site. I tried once and had no luck moving around. It may have been super busy or my server may have been dragging. I love free!
I recommend the patter. It goes together beautifully and feels dreamy comfortable.
The skirt turned out perfectly (isn’t that lining nice? you can choose as thin a fabric as you want to keep the skirt from feeling too hot.) I imagine that fabric is nice and soft! And that apron is ADORABLE as is the model. I laughed when I saw the first modeling , body language says a little reluctant. Wonderful work Judy!
Hi Tammy,
Thank you!
The lining is one thing that makes this pattern special. It’s so difficult to find cotton slips these days. I can’t stand synthetics, and this pattern makes wearing a slip unnecessary. In fact, it would be overkill.
Yes, my DH was reluctant, but alas, we live alone with our dogs, and he was elected. He really was a good sport.
