This super easy recipe adds a whole new dimension to saltine crackers. If you like crackers and spicy…you’ll enjoy these. They make a great finger food for social gatherings. Using Canola oil is the key to these tasty snack crackers. The crackers are not “greasy”. The oil coats the cracker, but the cracker remains crisp…they do not have to be baked or dried. Following the simple directions below is all there is to it.
Spicy Saltines
1 cup Canola Oil (no substitutes…other oils don’t work) *The original recipe calls for 2 cups of oil. I found that to be a bit excessive and decreased it by one cup.
1 tsp Crushed Red Pepper
1/2 tsp Ground Red Pepper
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1 Tablespoon Parmesan Cheese
1 Package Dry Ranch Dressing Mix
4 sleeves of Saltine Crackers
Pour Canola oil into a gallon-sized container with tight fitting lid. Mix all dry ingredients with the Canola oil until well blended. Add the saltines to the oil and spice mixture…avoid breaking crackers. Seal container and gently roll the container and turn it from end to end for several minutes to ensure all the crackers are coated with the oil and spice mixture.
They can be eaten within a few minutes of making, but they are much better if allowed to sit for a while. This easy to make snack cracker stores well in the same air-tight container they were mixed in, so don’t be worried about leftovers. They won’t be wasted.
Serve suggestion…arrange crackers on a tray and serve with a dip of your choice.
We also enjoy them with salads or all by themselves.
Until next time…
A clean conscience is a good pillow.

This sounds delish! Do the crackers soak up the oil? Do you leave them in the container, or do you lay them out to dry?
Hey Kellie.
Give them a try. I don’t think you will be disappointed. I edited the recipe to answer the questions you asked.
They are inexpensive and easily put together for a last minute snack.
My only problem with these crackers is leaving them alone. LOL.
Now this is my kind of recipe. I’ll have to give it a whirl…
Mmmmm! Mmmm! I just made a batch…minus the Parmesan cheese (I forgot to get some). They are VERY good! We have a homeschool luncheon tomorrow, and I’m taking a batch to share….if they last that long
Thank you so much for sharing the recipe. I think I have a new addiction!!
These sound so yummy. I just put the ingredients on my shopping list!
This sounds great–I’ll have to give these a try!
Blessings!
I promise these are super good. The simplicity of making them makes them even better.
These are soooo good! There is a tea room here that serves them with salads. They are great with chicken salad, too!
