In preparation for Gustov I packed all my sewing machines up in their cases and stowed them in a safer place than they usually set. Not sewing during that time was not an attractive option, so I started an apron project I’ve thought about making for a while. Chicken scratch is an embroidery form usually done on gingham. I kept mine simple, because I used stash fabric with a plaid-like gingham pattern. It turned out to be a little confusing to keep straight when I ventured into a more complex combination of stitches.
I’ve decided to keep this one. (Renee, you aren’t the only one who hangs on to the things you make…LOL). I’ve got a soft spot for roosters and will enjoy using this apron.
Rooster close-up…He’s a cocky fellow.
Sort of blurry close-up of the pocket.
The extra long ties wrap around and can be tied in a frou-frou bow.
A coordinated dish towel is kept close at hand on the loop.
Until next time…

Did you submit this for the gingham apron thing that angry chicken hosted? Love that rooster’s chest!
No Tammy. I didn’t. It’s been so long I’ve made it around to Angry Chicken, I didn’t even know she had something going on.
Every rooster worth his salt has a puffed out chest…kind of like men in their “man element”.
That’s a wonderful apron. Well done Judy!! Enjoy…
Thank you, Ellen. I’m wearing it right now! It “aprons” really well. I even wiped my hands on it.
