The more I looked at my January block the more unhappy I became with it. The long, dark blue patch glared at me even though it blended well with a couple of the fabrics I used in the block. Today I replaced the glaring patch with a more subtle piece of fabric. I’m more pleased and look forward to embellishing it over the next month or two.

Here is a picture of the revised block.

My friend Stephanie and I are doing a one on one block swap. Exciting!!! Saturday I received Stephanie’s block. Isn’t it lovely? I love the rich colors and fabrics. I’ve got embellishing ideas spinning around in my head. I’ll update as I work on it.

Until next time…
For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Romans 8:29

I like your blue block better now, but I wonder how much it would have actually shown once the embellishing was all done. At least this way you won’t have to worry about it. It’s much easier to change things at this point, than later on in the process.
I can’t wait to see what you do on my block! I’ve seen enough of your work to know it will be beautiful. I hope I do justice to yours. I am planning to photograph it as it progresses. Would you like updates, or a surprise when it’s all finished?
Hey Stephanie,
I like the blue block better now, too. I don’t think I could have embellished it enough to tone the dark strip down. I glared to loudly.
I’m sorry it took so long to reply. I got hit with influenza type A on Monday and have been terribly sick. The stuff is vicious. I still haven’t bounced back evenly remotely all the way, but at least I’m not seeking refuge in the dark now.
I hope you are doing much better than when we last spoke.
O…and I would love to see progress along the way, if you want to share OR you can surprise me. I’m easy. Sadly I’ve done no stitching this week. I tried earlier today, but it wasn’t working.
As always, thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. I appreciate you!
Hi Judy,
I’m sorry to hear you haven’t been feeling well . I hope you are feeling better by now – take it slow and you’ll be back to yourself in no time.
It goes without saying that I love your blue block – can’t wait to see how is turns out. Stephanie – lucky you! I’ve had the pleasure of doing a one on one swap with Judy and treasure the block I received back from her. Cant’ wait to see her work her magic on your block too!
Merry Christmas my friend!

I’ve been going nuts over the blocks you and my mom are sharing. She told me about your blog and I HAD to check it out. Lovely color choices. Now I’ve been bitten by the crazy quilting bug, lol.
