Good morning Dear Lennie,

This evening we will have the mirlatons for supper…if I get back from my parent’s house in time. The ad that peeked my curiosity said they are usually 99 cents each when not on sale…but I seriously doubt that. I think prices are elevated just a tad or two to reflect a bigger savings. But that’s just me…

I found the squash here today in our Shopper’s Food Warehouse and called Chayote Squash and were 59cents a lb. and came from Costa Rica. I googled the recipe and there are a variety of versions, depending on your taste.

Yes Ma’am, they are one and the same. It may even be Monday before I get around to cooking them. I’m going to my parents’ house tomorrow…and that’s just about an all day thing. Have you seen these before?

Will do, Kathy. The lady I talked to in the grocery store was a Katrina transplant from Louisiana…complete with that “Nahlons” accent. I am anxious to try them, but tonight it’s Louisiana sweet potatoes, fried cabbage and hamburger steak smothered in onions, peppers and mushrooms.

These are quite common in South Louisiana, but they don’t grow here in the northern part. I’ve never eaten one, but do give us a report on how to cook it and if you like it!!

What a great repurposing project, I must admit I’ve never seen (or looked) for 25lbs of sugar = oh my
I have looked at 5 lb bags and thought they were too good to throw away though!
Your lovely jean lining would make a great reversible bag!
