Good morning and good Friday! There’s so much to do today. In a little while DH and I will head to town for blood work. I’ve got my hopes up and my fingers crossed that he’ll get a good report this time around. He could really use some encouraging news.
My youngest daughter had a birthday last week. She was 31! I can’t imagine how she got so old so quickly. 🙂 I bought her a gift…something I knew she wanted and resisted buying for herself, but she expressed a surprised disappointment I had not made an apron for the occasion. Yesterday I started an apron for her. I’m using no pattern and have only her in mind as the wearer. She saw the fabric a couple days ago and likes it…so that’s a go. This apron is very long. Sometime back I saw an apron on a blog (I wish I knew where) called a “gathering apron”, I believe. Molly is enjoying her first garden this year and proudly gathers and puts away all the garden blessings she’s tended and watched grow. The “gathering apron” concept is perfect for her. Here is a shot of what I’ve got so far…O, did I tell you it is very long? It is very long. 🙂
Today, good Lord willing, I will finish it. The ties are cut and ready to stitch, but how the neck strap will be constructed is still in the planning stage. I’m leaning toward a D-ring system so it will be very adjustable.
Speaking of Molly…
she called me last night and says, “Mom, you know the Complete Workout Gym Chuck Norris endorses?
I said, (while drooling) “Yes, it’s been on my wish list for a very long time.”
Molly replied, “Mr. Roger (her FIL) found one at a yard sale and bought it for $10.00 and gave it to me!” (Mr. Roger is a yard sale addict. When he is not diesel mechanicing he buys things he does not need at yard sales.)
This system is near-new and top of the line. It cost big bucks! Mr. Roger gets the “deal of the decade” award. The woman who sold it to Mr. Roger was selling all her husband’s treasures. She’ll teach him to walk out and stay gone for days! It would not surprise me if I read about her and hubby in the newspaper after he goes home. He’s going to be seriously irked.
It’s time for me to scoot. The temperature is rising as I type. I’d like to be in and out of town before that asphalt jungle heats up too much more.
Until next time…
Present suffering is not enjoyable, but life would be worth little without it. The difference between iron and steel is fire, but steel is worth all it costs. ~ Maltbie D. Babcock ~
I prefer to think of the difference between “silver or gold and dross is fire”…but I really like the quote.
good morning! nice to meet another “wordpress-er”…..although I think i may switch to Blogger soon here! THank you for stopping by and CUTE apron by the way!! I wish I cooked more!!
Good to see you, Lily…
We’ll see how the apron finishes up…the fabric is kind of a pistol to work with. I rarely buy anything that is not all cotton, but this piece is kind of suspicious.
As for cooking more…just do it! 🙂
Homemade goodness can’t be beat.
I’ve only been with WordPress for about a month and a half, but I’m loving it. The format is my favorite of all the blogs I visit. Why are you thinking of leaving?
Do come again…
Judy, is this the gathering apron you saw? I remember seeing it, too.

I REALLY need to make me an apron, among other things.
Bingo, Terri! That’s the one I saw. As you can see the only similarity at this point is the length. 😉 Molly wanted a full apron so I took it from there. She also wanted “simple”. She’s not into anything that draws a whole lot of attention like bright colors…Now that I’ve got the link, I’ll follow the buttonhole placement, etc. That system is great!
Thank you for the link. It is definitely worth sharing.
I hope you get around to making yourself an apron soon…once the quilting is finished.
The apron looks great so far!
I’m laughing at the garage sale story, that man’s wife must have been quite angry.
Christina, I can only imagine she was livid…and if the guy ever goes back home, quite likely this will be one of those times when “what comes around, goes around” will apply. I can only guess there will be quite a fireworks display.
It is funny though…in a sick sort of way. In the words of William Congreve “Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned / Nor hell a fury like a woman scorned.”
