Last night along with millions of Americans I watched the presidential debate between Senators John McCain and Barak Obama. Straightway after the conclusion of the very eventless debate I went to bed. Before turning out the light and drifting off to slumberland, I read for a while, because the debate left me with the disturbing feeling that neither of the debate participants are leveling with us…neither is telling the truth…neither man can be trusted with the future of our United States. I hoped reading a portion of the book I’ve been plodding through for the past couple months would change the thoughts dancing around in my head. Fresh thoughts would surely introduce sweeter sleep. I couldn’t have been more wrong.
My sleep was interrupted with dreams more disturbing and life-like than evoked by the flat-line debate I watched before going to bed. Repeatedly I woke up with visions of Obama’s smirking face filling my mind. William Ayers was his companion. Had I not been too tired to drag myself from my bed, I would have gotten up to avoid further unwelcome invasion of my psychic. I woke up feeling more disturbed than I felt before going to sleep.
I’m not one to entertain unreasonable fear, but the current political and economic scene in the United States and the world is critical enough to make even the most stoic individual quake. The United States as we know it is on the verge of extinction. A “one world economic system” is one more nap away, yet most of the people I encounter remain in their bubble of oblivion and evasion of reality…what they do not acknowledge cannot be true.
I don’t profess to see the future, but I refuse to ignore the present. I’m not sure who John McCain is. The Maverick I remember used his wit and ingenuity to outfox his opposition. McCain has been disturbingly passive and has neglected to call his opponent on his shady associations throughout his career. Obama scares the stink out of me. His associates are not honorable people, and I believe “birds of a feather flock together”. He comes out of one of the most corrupt political machines in the country.
We are in deep trouble. Crooks are in the drivers seat, and they are stealing our country. It’s time to wake up, because dreams can be nightmares, and nightmares can come true.
Until next time…
Don’t mind me…I had to get this off my chest, and don’t expect you to agree with me. Afterall…last night’s nightmare was mine…not yours. Or is it?
I don’t think you are off the mark at all. Makes you wonder what is going on in our world and where it is all leading?…not a place that I’m comfortable with our excited about raising my children in.
The debate left a bad taste in my mouth too. I wish to goodness there was another candidate out there. Neither one of these men seem honest and able to lead our nation honorably and with integrity. A vote truly is the lesser of two evils and when you listen to people hem and haw about who to vote for because they don’t trust either one of them, it makes me worried too.
Above all it makes me pray more and a more for our leaders and for our nation.
Me, too, Daisy.
I’m not so sure God hasn’t washed His hands of this country and our corruption. He’s been known to take such action.
I know He will continue to take care of His own…but the United States is no longer “one nation under God”. He has been sufficiently thrown out of most areas of government and much of our society.
I don’t think either is much of a choice- I am still on the fence – I fear the childhood chant of ‘eenie, meenie, miny, moe’ will be recited on election day……. I think we should erase it all, and start from scratch!!!!
I agree, Pat. It’s astounding these two men are “the best” America has to offer. It’s definitely a lesser of two evils year…
Hi Judy,
I agree with you! Good rant! We are in God’s hands no matter what happens. We need to turn from our wicked ways and follow the Lord!
I do agree Judy and guess what? I also believe that if Obama become presidet that there will be even more tolerates for Islam. Did you know that it is ok to lie as a muslim if it is for the cause of Allah? It’s true. Did you also know that it is the goal of Islam to be the dominate religion in every country? That true too. How about when Islam is in the minority in a country they are to behave like lambs, but when they become the majority then they are to behave as lions. See the difference between lions and lambs? Well scary days are ahead.
Till Jesus Comes,
Laurie
Oh do you want to see my finished layette set?
Here it is it took me long enough and much tearing out.

I agree; when a candidate hosts a rally where people in the crowd shout threats to kill his opponent things are indeed scary.
Kai…It is a sad state of affairs when any crowd shouts death threats…it’s also a sad state of affairs when the media lies about it.
Laurie, your latest layette is darling. No surprise to me. Your work is always tops!
These times are amazing…I’m feeling kind of dumbfounded at this point…like I’m in a bad dream, and I can’t wake up.
I understand your fears. I’m right there with you. I’ve never been much on politics but this election has me very much afraid. Why is McCain behaving so passively? With the things I’ve read and heard about Obama there is plenty McCain could say.. but he’s not. I do not believe Obama should be our next leader and I will not vote for him… I will not vote for a man who attended a church for 20 years where the preacher teaches discrimination.. I will not vote for a man who then so easily turns his back on his preacher of 20 years because he no longer fits into his plan.. I will not vote for a man who began his religious walk as a Muslim.. I will not vote for a man who thinks it ok to kill babies.. I will not vote for a man who lies.. I could go on and on… and on. It’s so disturbing.
O.k Judy I said I would take a look, and all I can say is right on! What ever happened to honorable men? I too am scared for our country. But I don’t know what scares me more the 2 men that are running or the people who have no clue how goverment really works . If they did they would not be so quick to vote for a moslim. All I know is that as a born again christian I have one duty and that is to vote for the candidate who most lines up with God’s word. The lesser of two evils is not the way things should be But we did this to ourselves. Rant on!
Renee, I’m not so much afraid as I am sickened by the charade and the lies. I agree with what you have said.
I think one of the problems with this election has been the indisputable fact the mainstream media is pushing the election of Obama. They are supposed to be neutral in their reporting but have not been remotely close to neutral. Their constant digs have shown the slant of their bias. Unfortunately many and likely most Americans depend on the media to feed them what to believe. None of the many reasons why Obama is not suitable to hold the highest office in the nation have been reported by the networks.
Obama promises change…for once IF he is elected a politician will keep his promise. We will see change we’ve never experienced. Sadly those who put faith in this man forget that all change is not good.
Marquita, I am sure there are many professed Christians who are not casting their votes based on anything pertaining to God…somewhere I’ve read “if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.” You are right, Marq…we let this happen while we were sleeping.
You perfectly stated my own fears and frustrations! I’m sure many, many Americans share the same thoughts.
Kathy
I agree with you Judy, 100%
Cathy
Catherine, it’s my prayer there’s a lot of us out there…enough of us to make a difference.
You have said what I have been feeling for some time. I just didn’t know how to say it… thanks…
