For Today…Monday, October 27, 2008
Outside My Window…The sun is shining and a chilly northern wind is blowing. My windows are open, and Morgan is feeling his oats. Crowing resonates through the air.
I am thinking…of God’s infinite goodness. He loves me so much!
I am thankful for…answered prayer. Over the past few years my flower gardens have been taken captive by weeds due to circumstances out of our control. The sight of flourishing weeds overwhelmed me, and I felt completely inadequate to regain the ground. The cost of someone doing it for me would be way out of the realm of reason. This is something I talked to God about almost every time I looked out over the once beautiful flower beds. Over the weekend the little grandma house next door to us was bulldozed and burned. My DH asked the man who owned the demolition company that did this job what he would charge to doze the weeds. He agreed to bring his dozer to our property and push the beds away for a very nominal fee. The prospect of having everything dozed made me sad, and I resisted the idea until God reminded me of the many conversations we had about the burden the overgrown beds were to me. I gradually recognized this as a blessing and direct answer to my prayers. My DH was able to salvage some of everything I grew which pleased me greatly, and we’ll be able to manage the remaining beds without being overloaded.
From the kitchen…the smell of homemade beef stew billows out into the rest of the house. It smells wonderful. I’ll pick a fresh leaf lettuce salad from our garden and serve homemade biscuits with real butter and homemade preserves for our supper tonight. Wish y’all could join us.
I am wearing…a cotton skirt made of camouflage fabric and a sleeveless cotton tee. I’ve got one of my favorite aprons on, and my feet are bare.
I am creating…a birdie sling bag for my mom, a baby quilt and a crocheted shawl for myself.
I am going…to stay home all day…good Lord willing. My DH will come home for lunch in a little while, and my SIL is supposed to stop by on her way home from town.
I am reading…I’ve got about ten pages remaining of “The Anastasia Syndrome and Other Stories” and will start reading “Always By My Side” by Jim Nantz next.
I am hoping…a nagging headache goes away soon.
I am hearing…Rush Limbaugh drone on and on and on. The volume is low because of my headache, and his words are indistinguishable.
Around the house…Most things are in good order. I’m plucking away at the rest.
One of my favorite things…homemade beef stew.
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: I’ll go to town today or tomorrow and will hopefully fit a Salvation Army thrift store excursion in when I do. I plan on working on gifts for Christmas and enjoy the luxury of being at home.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing…
Until next time…

I love that you were wearing a skirt made out of camo fabric; that gave me a very nice chuckle this morning.
I’ve been wearing camo for years…then it became commonplace to see women and girls in camo skirts. I’ve got them for summer and winter. 🙂 When you wear camo no one else can see you. 🙂 LOL.
Thank you for visiting my blog.
