How many times have we heard an encourager say, “God is always right on time” during a time of trial or trouble? I won’t even render a guess how many times I’ve uttered those words to someone else, believing them and vouching for their truth. I firmly believe God’s hand is on every area of his children’s lives…even during the most mundane of circumstances and unlikely of places.
I’ve shared before that my DH and I lost our house in 2005 during Katrina. As a result, we bought a new washer and dryer when we moved into our new home in December of that year. December 7th to be precise. Yesterday I tossed a load of heavy towels into the dryer and sent them on their way through a drying cycle. When I checked them later they were still very damp and barely warm, and I turned the machine on again. I didn’t give the lack of dryness very much thought until this morning when I started to remove the towels to fold them and reload the dryer. They were still cold and very damp. Ugh! Realization that my three year old dryer was on the fritz hit home quickly.
I went in search of the receipt for the washer and dryer and couldn’t find it, so I called the store where we bought the machines to set up a visit from a repairman. The young man I talked to was helpful and looked up all the information pertaining to the purchase. As he reviewed the transaction details, he whistled, and said “wow, you bought the two-year extended warranty!” I said, “yes”. In itself, an extended warranty is not an amazing thing, but this time I found cause to thank my Heavenly Father one more time for being right on time. The warranty, in all it’s full coverage glory, expires in three days! This repair job will cost us nothing, because the dryer stopped working just in the nick of time, and I did not procrastinate about calling for a repairman.
Some might call this lucky or odd…but I definitely attribute it to God and how he takes care of us. I always try to remember to thank God in all things. This was an easy time to remember. Repair would have been costly and thankful I am! One more time…God was right on time!
Until next time…
If nothing seems to go my way today, this is my happiness: God is my Father and I am his child.
