For Today…Monday, January 5, 2009
Outside My Window…gentle rain is falling; it is the harbinger of severe weather later today.
I am thinking…how strangely wonderful the quiet that surrounds me is in spite of the heavy heartache that remains behind my California kids’ departure for home.
From the learning room…little will occur today without necessity. I am both physically and emotionally exhausted. I did mend a pair of dress pants for one of my SILs and found it to be a true learning experience. The seam had come out near the bottom of a side pocket. I had to completely dismantle the pocket side seam and the main seam to repair it satisfactorily. It turned out to be more of a major undertaking than I had expected. I’ve always preferred making a garment from scratch to repairing one.
I am thankful for…everything.
From the kitchen…I see much that needs to be done. It’s doubtful I’ll do any of it today…I just simply don’t feel like it. Fortunately there are no dirty dishes outside the dishwasher and putting things back into their “always” place can wait without stinking. 🙂
I am wearing…my trusty camo sweatskirt, a comfy tee and a zip-up sweatshirt. These are comfort clothes…my feet are bare.
I am creating…a wool scrap lapgan. I’m almost finished with the crocheting. I plan to felt it when I’m done just to see how it looks. I hope I like it since I’ll be stuck with it.
I am going…absolutely nowhere today. My sweet daughter agreed to mail a long promised package to the winner of my Christmas giveaway. I feel like a slug for not sending it in a timely manner. ~ sigh ~
I am reading…my Bible and My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers. The latter is a daily devotion book I’ll read throughout the year. It’s one of my favorite, and I use it every couple years.
I am hoping…my California kids make it home safely. They are flying into bad weather and will likely hit delays.
I am hearing…the whir of a fan…and glorious silence.
Around the house…there is a good deal to do, but it will wait until I am ready. Today I rest and nurse my broken heart.
One of my favorite things…a laughing baby.
