For Today…Monday, February 9, 2010
Outside My Window…the chickens are scratching around in their yard, birds are singing, clouds are building, and rain is forecasted to move into our area during the night.
I am thinking…how overwhelmed I’ve been over the past month or so. I’m just beginning to get back into my “groove” after a too long derailment…there literally seems to be an oppression looming in the air.
From the learning room…I have begun clicking my knitting needles together. Catching on seemed slow to me, but I can see progress in my practice squares. Finally I can look at one and see the difference between a knit stitch and purl stitch. Theres so much to learn, and now that I’m starting to relax a little with it learning to knit has become fun. I look forward to actually being able to make something.
I am thankful for…my DH, for my family, home and church.
From the kitchen…freshly picked collard greens and thawing pork chops are awaiting my attention. Soon I’ll start supper preparations. My DH returns to a 12 hour rotation shift this evening, and supper must be ready and waiting when I wake him at 4:30 this afternoon.
I am wearing…a long gray skirt made of light-weight sweatshirt fabric, a soft pink, 3/4 sleeve T-top and nothing on my feet.
I am creating…on Saturday I completed 5 burp cloths and an over-sized flannel receiving blanket for a young mother at our church. It was the first sewing I’ve done since Christmastime. It’s time for me to select another project, but I’ve not decided what. I am in the quilting mood so I may start a block of the month quilt I committed to make. I’m already a month behind. It’s time.
I am going…no place else today. My DH and I went around the world for chicken food this morning. Our usual route has been detoured due to bridge repair. What would have been a 1/2 hour round trip took at least an hour. The detour took us on a lovely ride through the country so it wasn’t a bad thing.
I am reading…Christy by Catherine Marshall. With my DH on nights I’ll have much more reading time.
I am hoping…for better days ahead.
I am hearing…the whir of my computer…even the chickens and birds are quiet at the moment.
Around the house…only routine things need to be done. I expect some of them will wait for another day. With my DH day-sleeping it will be necessary to keep noise to a minimum.
One of my favorite things…knowing someone is blessed by something I’ve made for them.
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: I don’t have any big plans. On Friday I will run errands, deliver eggs, and hopefully make a visit to our Salvation Army thrift store.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing…
