Our keets are growing fast and are leaving behind the “quail look” of newly hatched guineas. They’ve started getting gray feathers and their necks have gotten longer. This morning I introduced them to their new home for the next couple weeks or so if we are fortunate. They are still in my washroom, and I look forward to the day we can safely move them outside. I love my birds, but I’m not so fond of the mess that goes along with having them inside. When I reached in to remove them from the box they were in, they freaked, but it took them no time to settle into their new surroundings. They are having a grand old time in their expanded space.
Until next time…

They are cute and oh so tempting!! I was driving thru the parking lot of Southern States (husband was just doing a drive by -comparison shopping on equipment) The sign outside said “hop in and see our bunnies”!! That means they had chicks too – it was all I could do – thank goodness I was not behind the wheel!!! I thought about keeping chicks in the guestroom tub, until we could build them a hutch!!! But, which comes first, the chicken or the coop – I’m waiting for the coop!!! LOL
How wise you are, Pat…to wait for a coop, but then there is no urgency to get a coop when you choose the wise path. I wanted chickens and couldn’t motivate my menfolk to make a coop for me…so I got the chicks first. By the time they outgrew their second or third temporary shelter the coop was ready.
I’ve done the same thing with the guineas. We’ll see how that works out.
Our rabbit died last year…and I’m hankering to get a pair. They make wonderful fertilizer. I miss my bunny.
