I love to work outside in my garden, but I’m not very heat resistant. Once I get over-heated I am in likely to end up with a vicious headache…migraine proportion. A few years back someone shared a cool down tip with me, though for the life of me, I can’t remember who. I keep a jar of spearmint leaves packed liberally, but not tightly, and filled with water in the refrigerator in the warm months. When I get too hot or simply want to feel wonderfully refreshed, I dampen a cloth with the water and wipe my skin with it. The result is instant cooling.
Spearmint plants are available in many garden center this time of year. It’s easy to grow and since it’s a perinneal, it usually has to be bought only once. When planting any kind of mint it is good to use an fairly deep, underground barrier, because it can be very invasive.
I hope this cool down tip will be as useful to someone who reads here as it is to me. I know I’m not the only heat weenie out there. 🙂
Until next time…
