For Today…Monday, December 28, 2009
Outside My Window…The morning frost has not yet melted. Soon the sun’s warmth will chase it away. The air is crisp and cold.
I am thinking…what I will do with this new day. I’ve had a difficult time returning to my blog after the passing away of my dad. A daybook entry seems like the ultimate solution. Many things have been put off over the past few weeks so I could spend as much time as possible with my dad. Now it’s time to get back to some sort of “normal”. I really miss my dad.
From the learning room…of life I’m learning just how abundant God’s grace really is…
I am thankful for…all who have prayed, sent cards and shared words of encouragement during my dear dad’s sickness and home-going. You have all meant so much to me.
From the kitchen…my favorite cookie (date-walnut pinwheels) is chilling in the refrigerator. In a few minutes I’ll heat the oven and slice the and bake the dough I rolled, filled and rolled into “logs” last night.
I am wearing…my pajamas, a robe and slippers. Sadly I have little umph or desire to change into day clothes. I’m warm and our house is cooler than comfort dictates. While I drink a couple more cups of tea I’ll stay dressed as I am.
I am creating…a shawl of lovely gray and white variegated wool. Two nights ago I ran out of yarn and need more to complete it so until I go to town it is on hold. Last night I started creating a pair of long fingerless gloves…no pattern. This morning I looked at my work from last night and have decided to unravel it and choose a different yarn.
I am going…to take lunch to my dh today so we can spend his lunch break together. I’m going to start taking the ornaments off our Christmas tree today, and if all goes well, I will begin making burp cloths for my sister’s first grandchild.
I am reading…Christmas Hope and my Bible.
I am hoping…my dh is not getting sick. He’s feeling a bit puny.
I am hearing…two of our dogs playing behind me.
Around the house…things are in pretty good order…except laundry has mutated.
One of my favorite things…music that soothes my spirit.
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: get some sewing done. organize my sewing room. laundry. laundry and more laundry.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing…
Bittersweet family reunion…taken the day after my dad’s funeral. Only three family members were absent…my nephew and his very pregnant wife were unable to make the trip and my dh had to work. My sister’s son took this picture and many others while we were all together. He is an amazing, budding young photographer…destined to be a successful, professional photographer. I’ll brag on him more and share more of his amazing work soon. I’m extremely proud of him.
Until next time…
