This morning I put the finishing touches on a 3D flower pincushion I made for a swap. I figured before I wrap it up and send it on its way I’d share it here. Remember I’m trying to make an effort to keep my blog updated during the summer months.
The little butterflies are free-standing lace made with my embroidery machine. Beading is not something I’ve done much of…I adlibbed and am not sure how successful I was.
Here’s the one I received…I like it a lot…a lot…and was tempted to duplicate the pattern but decided that would be wrong. A big part of the these “artsy” swaps is expressing your creativity…not someone else’s. When I compare the two pincushions the one I received looks so much sweeter…sigh. I’m always my toughest critic…maybe.
Last evening my DH took our dogs outside for their “routine romp when Papa gets home from work”. Shortly after leaving the house DH returned with two tiny keets in hand. He saved them from one of our boxers. The dog chased the mama guinea and scattered her keets. That’s when Papa rescued two of the three keets mama guinea had remaining from her hatch. Guineas may be the worst parents in the animal kingdom. Rarely does a keet survive to adulthood. The interaction left an extremely agitated mama guinea who stalked Papa when he went back outside to rescue the last keet. Two out of three is not bad. And aren’t they darling?
That’s a wrap for this post. It’s way past time for me to get busy around the house.
Until next time…

I LOVE your pin cushion!!! The one you received is cute too – and yours is definitely of the same caliber!!! Are the little pearls beads, or pins – hard to tell from the photo. The butterfly is beautiful- your sewing machine does that? I better upgrade!!LOL
So glad your husband rescued the little keets!!! I thought that’s what they were, but figured you only had chickens. I would love to get guineas too – but they tend to wander and I’m sure around here, someone would shoot one.
O your words are so sweet, Pat! Thank you, thank you, thank you. My machine is a Baby Lock Ellegante 2. It does everything…it’s a wonderful machine. I’ve had it for three or four years and love it every bit as much today as I did when I bought it. It was a bit pricy but worth it. It embroiders beautifully…The beading is my first real attempt at beading. So in answer to your question all the little beads are, in fact, little beads.
I can’t imagine anyone would shoot guineas…though they do roam a bit. They also keep snakes away…and there have been at least 5 diamond backs killed within 1/2 mile of our house over the past few weeks…but none on our property. They help keep the rodent population down…and they eat bugs. They are better watch dogs than most watch dogs…I adore them. Just a few minutes ago I returned home from taking my DH lunch. Our guineas were out front when I drove up…the remaining keet/keets are no longer with them. Between the time DH rescued the two in the laundry room and this morning something got them. I couldn’t help but thank God for the survival of the ones DH saved.
Hope your day is a dandy one. Give Yoshi warm fuzzies from me. 🙂
