Tea Tuesday has rolled around once again. This one finds me taking it easy. It’s one of those days when I don’t feel like doing a whole lot of anything so only the things I must do will get done. A day like that is nice to have once in a while. I’ve worked hard canning this week and will start again tomorrow. Today I chill.
Blueberries are in season in Mississippi. I love them just about any way they can be fixed. This afternoon I am indulging in hot homemade biscuits covered with a generous amount of sorghum molasses and fresh blueberries. The combination was an experiment last week…and a do-over today. I’ve paired the blueberry biscuits with a mug of strong black tea…nothing could be finer.
Some of the fruits of my labors the past several days…
I’ve canned a five gallon bucket of Roma tomatoes…some with fresh basil and some with hot, red peppers. Later this week I plan on canning two more bucketfuls.
I also turned about 10 pounds of cucumbers into lime sweet pickles. Tomorrow I will begin the process of making more pickles. I’ve ordered 15 pounds of cucumbers for tomorrow and will begin the process of pickling them. Next week I will pick up a 20 lb. box of cucumbers and will go into over-drive. I am the official pickle maker of our family. No one wants to buy sweet pickles anymore. These are wonderfully crisp and are just plain good.

How Lovely and what a great treat for me to get your latest Tea on Tuesday edition. I just Love all your canning efforts. How Rewarding for you to look at the culinary treasures your own hands have wrought. And then, to be able to share it all with those you love. I’m glad you are taking a day to rest, God is pleased with you in that too. Lennie
Dear Lennie…so glad you stopped by. I do believe if I hadn’t slowed down today God would slowed me down. 🙂 I do look forward to getting my hands on the cucumbers tomorrow though. My dear mother looks so forward to them. I hope you and yours are all doing well. oxo
All that canning and cooking…you deserve a rest…
I can almost hear your jar lids POP…your kitchen must be a really fun place…it certainly looks delicious…I am a big fruit fan too…hard to get enough of blueberries!

Canning is very steamy business!! I would take a break too! Your pickles sound yummy! My family loves sweet pickles too 🙂
So glad you could take a break for tea – your blueberries sound like a real treat 🙂
Cheers, Kimmie
Thanks for stopping by my blog, Judy! Would you be willing to share your special pickle recipe? XOXO
I would gladly share my pickle recipe. I’ve got a great sweet pickle and a great dill pickle recipe. You want both or just one? I’ll blog post them…if that works for you. I always love visiting your blog…I was just wondering how your canning is going. I thought I would get a break from canning today and one of my daughters called early and asked if I would teach her to can tomatoes if she brought hers over. Of course I said yes. How’s that for a paragraph with minimal punctuation? 🙂 oxo
