When I first set out to accomplish the Crazy Quilt Journal Project of 2013 I was determined not to get behind. Well…the best laid plans go astray, and we’ve all heard where the road of good intentions leads. This morning I finally put the finishing stitches on my June block. Too many things got in the way of timely stitching and completion of this block. To say I am glad to call it finished is an understatement.
Here are some pictures…

Late yesterday afternoon my dear husband went to the chicken house to pick up eggs, and this is what he found nestled in one of the laying boxes. Yikes! I am so thankful I was not the one picking up eggs, because with my cataracts, seeing into those dark, little openings is iffy at best. I would very likely have been bitten…and this big ugly is a “bad” snake. I know some of you are thinking “there is no such thing as a good snake”, but I am not of that school of thought. I’m so thankful my husband has better eyesight than me, and that he was the one to pick up eggs when that big ugly was filling its belly.
As if one picture is not enough…here is a second, closer one.
Seeing it dead with its head crushed reminded me of the scripture I will close with today…
Until next time…
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Genesis 3:15
Oh, that is one big snake! What kind is it?
Your block is gorgeous! I can see that you have been using Sharon B’s templates. They paisley is very pretty, and what a unique dragonfly! I always love seeing what you will do for a spider and web!
a lovely block so much to see and admire on it. Wondering about your cataracts, it must be hard to stitch, had mine removed about 8 years ago.
Not something you want to find in the chicjken hutch, wonder if your visitor was after the eggs maybe she wanted to lay hers!
Judy your block is gorgeous!! As always. That black snake is a scary dude!! Question for you…where do you get those buttons or beads that are shaped like flowers & stars? I really like them and have a hard time finding them here locally. Thanks and have a Blessed day. Hugs, Pam
Judy what kind of snake is that? My husband wants to know your husband name and phone and when he sees a snake your hubby will be the first person he will call. MY husband (sorry to snake lovers) believes the only good snake is dead snake… I never used to be so afraid of snakes until my husband was so petrified of them. What kind is it? I am so happy for your sake that you did not find him first or should I say he find you first. I can just picture someone thinking that head is an egg. Now on to better things, your block is gorgeous… I love it….love ya Lisa
Lisa, the snake is a cotton mouth…it is a viper…we kill vipers around our place so they don’t bite us or our dogs. I’m glad you like my block. I am so far behind.
