Tuesday came and almost went before I had time to get my stitches posted. Hopefully WordPress will cooperate. The last couple times I’ve tried to post, saving the draft wiped out what I had composed. That becomes tedious quickly.
This week I finished off a block using the stitches for weeks 4-9. I’m caught up with the challenge. Hoorah!
Week 4 – Cretan Stitch
(Closed Cretan) The cream-colored stitches…
(Open Cretan) The rose-colored stitches with blue beads…
This picture also shows the flower made of sequins using a tutorial by KerryKatieCakes.
Week 5 – Herringbone Stitch – The blue exaggerated X stitches.
Week 6 – Chevron Stitch – The brown stitches. A double row forms a diamond.
Week 7 – Detached Chain Stitch – Ribbon stitches forming flowers and leaves…
Detached chain forming butterflies and flowers…
Week 8 – Chain Stitch (Brown stitching)
Week 9 – Couching – Couching holds the funky fibers in place. (The butterfly is made primarily using the chain stitch.)
The block as a whole…using stitches from TAST weeks 1 – 9.
Tomorrow I must make another naked square…I simply must.
Until next time…
God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend. Job 37:5
These blocks are beautiful Judy! I’m loving this new direction your crafting is taking you. I really enjoy embroidery, although the stitches that I do at this time are pretty limited. It looks like you’re really expanding your stitching skills. Also, congratulations on winning the give-away.
Thank you, Tammy. You are undoubtedly one of the most encouraging cheerleaders in my life. I really do appreciate you. I am bound and determined to learn as much as I can that will make my squares more beautiful. Stitching plays such a heavy role, and there are so many to try and hone. Hopefully I will pick up a book soon that will help even more.
As always, it is nice to see you, and I hope all is well in your world. I see very little of you these days. Facebook has lost its thrill with all the changes they’ve made and plan to make. Privacy is more important than staying connected. My time on there has become extremely limited. Most of my interaction is done via my mobile, and I don’t see a whole lot with it. You take care and come again soon.
