Welcome to the ramblings of my mind.
I don’t think our kids know what an apron is.
The principal use of Grandma’s apron was to protect the dress underneath, but along with that, it served as a potholder for removing hot pans from the oven.
It was wonderful for drying children’s tears, and on occasion was even used for cleaning out dirty ears.
From the chicken coop, the apron was used for carrying eggs, fussy chicks, and sometimes half-hatched eggs to be finished in the warming oven.
When company came, those aprons were ideal hiding places for shy kids
And when the weather was cold, grandma wrapped it around her arms.
Those big old aprons wiped many a perspiring brow, bent over the hot wood stove.
Chips and kindling wood were brought into the kitchen in that apron.
From the garden, it carried all sorts of vegetables. After the peas had been shelled, it carried out the hulls.
In the autumn, the apron was used to bring in apples that had fallen from the trees.
When unexpected company drove up the road, it was surprising how much furniture that old apron could dust in a matter of seconds.
When dinner was ready, Grandma walked out onto the porch, waved her apron, and the men knew it was time to come in from the fields to dinner.
It will be a long time before someone invents something that will replace that “old-time apron” that served so many purposes.
REMEMBER………
Grandma used to set her hot baked apple pies on the window sill to cool.
Her granddaughters set theirs on the kitchen counter to thaw.

This fits appropriately in my blog…and still applies today. Some things just don’t change.
Another thing that does not change is the love of Jesus Christ for each of us and His desire to be your Lord and Saviour. It is my hope you will see this love through me while you are visiting my blog.
Wow this is way cool Judy! I love your blog, and you have a beautiful grandson. If this keeps up I may start one myself. Hmmmmmmmm nope.
Thanks, Marquita. I think he’s great! I’m glad to see you here. Come back soon, ya hear?

I have certainly enjoyed reading here and there on this wonderful blog! So glad Kellie sent me the link! Miss you!
Judy, thank you for kind comments on my little poem. I have absolutely no idea what I am doing online. My kids and grandkids kept on me, and oldest son gave me the computer (when he got a new laptop!) to go online with. I am really enjoying all the websites I go see, but am frustrated by my ignorance! Everybody seems to have a purpose and reason for being here. I’m just rambling on about whatever pops into my head.
Judy:
Your addy never came through. Please Email me once again with your address so I can out your little hearts!
Jean

Hi neighbor, I’m glad you left a comment when you stopped by. Come back any time. I’m a little slow blogging these days, but I’m sure I’ll pick up the pace when the weather cools. We’ve been busy with gardening, keeping the outside critters watered, and going out of town. Blogging kind of falls to by the wayside.
Kindest regards, Judy
