A dear friend asked me to make her a simple, blue, half-apron…I’m hoping this one will suit her fancy…Oops, I forgot…she doesn’t want anything fancy. It’s my take on the Amy Butler apron in her book “In Stitches”. I mostly followed Amy’s method, but I like my way of attaching the waistband better than hers and won’t repeat hers. I like the way the apron wears…very much. I always make the ties longer so they wrap around and tie in front so they don’t fall into the toilet when I go to the bathroom. I hate it when that happens. (Duh…) The apron has a loop for a towel so I bordered the ends of a dish towel with leftover fabric from the skirt of the apron to go with it…just to be sweet. 🙂
Until next time…

That is a beautiful apron! I love it.
Great apron! I like the trim on the towel, it’s a very nice touch.
wish i could sew like you, this looks lovely and i’m, sure your friend will think sotoo. Like the addition of the towel loop, and the trimmed towel to match 🙂
What a lovely apron. It seems like it would be perfect for someone who likes blue and not so fancy. It’s practical but still pretty.
Thank you, ladies. I’m hoping the intended friend feels the same. Hopefully she’ll see this later this morning…if not I’ll call her when we get back from DH’s doctor’s appointment.
Sally, do you have a sewing machine? Aprons are a great project for practicing sewing. If I remember correctly, an apron was my first ever sewing project in Home Ec.
Cool apron, Miss Judy! I love the towel loop idea…
Thank you, Molly. The loop is not my idea…I just instituted it. I’m glad you like the apron.
The lines are nice; I particularly like the width of the top band, a little wider than I’ve seen on other half-aprons, and I think it makes a nice difference – it’s simple, but not plain.
Thank you, Tammy.
I hope my friend enjoys it. I plan on repeating this style with minor alterations.
I like the wider waist band, too, but I don’t always make them wider.
I love ,love, love it! It is perfect. Blue is my favorite color. The workmanship is great! It’s so pretty I almost don’t want to wear it lol . I will post a picture as soon as I can get my son-inlaw to do it for me. Cause you know I am computer challenged. Love you bunches Thank you!
