For Today…Monday, November 17, 2008
Outside My Window…The sun is shining brightly attempting to warm the frigid air and melt the thin layer of frost covering open fields and withering plants.
I am thinking…about getting ready to go out into the world. I would much rather keep a fire going in the fireplace and stay in my toasty, cozy home.
From the learning room…I’ve got many books to choose from, but there is always room for one more.
I am thankful for…countless blessings.
From the kitchen…I hear water dripping through the coffee maker as it brews our second pot of hot, strong coffee.
I am wearing…my pajamas and a zip-up sweatshirt. It’s pretty chilly in my computer room.
I am creating…The bag I am making for my mom for Christmas is almost completed…Good Lord willing I’ll finish it today. In the evenings I am hand stitching a baby quilt. Soon I’ll add the binding.
I am going…to leave my comfy home in a few minutes and take my DH to the doctor for a checkup on the shoulder he injured at work two weeks ago. When we get back we’ll take our white Boxer Emma to the vet to have a drain tube removed.
I am reading…Always By My Side by Jim Nantz and my bible. This week I read Bend The Rules Sewing by Amy Karol.
I am hoping…my DH’s shoulder is healing well.
I am hearing…the hum of my computer tower and my DH moving around in the kitchen.
Around the house…things are in pretty decent shape. That’s a good thing, because when I get back home I plan to sew.
One of my favorite things…my first cup of coffee in the morning.
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: I’m hoping I am able to devote most of this week to creating Christmas gifts. Time is running out quickly.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing…
Poor Emma…she had a close encounter with a snake. Her face had to be lanced to clean out the infection caused by the bite and a drain tube was inserted. Today she has it removed.
Until next time…
Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Psalm 103:1
oh poor emma! bless her heart!
this is the reason that i will shoot a water moccasin (the only snake i’ll shoot instead of relocate)
Oh little Emma. I hope she’ll be fine. You’re a good mama for tending to her. So many people don’t. Where was this snake? Hopefully not too close to home?
awww pretty lady Emma proof why I don’t want a snake!
Poor Emma…. glad she doesn’t have a mirror so she won’t see how tragic she truly looks 😉
Hey ladies, Emma appreciates your sympathy and sends many licks and wags.
Jayedee, I’m a “friend” snake advocate, too. We don’t even relocate them. Friends…black racers, coach whips, king snakes…etc. They keep rodents down beautifully.
Rattlers and moccasins are history if we can kill them before they get us. 🙂
Renee, Our Emma got her stitches and the drain tube removed Saturday. She is healing nicely…the snake was in our backyard…aka dog yard. We live outside of town, and snakes are seen often. Emma has to play with any critter she sees. She just can’t help herself. If she encounters another snake, she’ll probably get bit again.
Laurie…I thought it was Sean who wanted the snake. 🙂
Faye, she looks much better with the tube and stitches out.
i should rephrase…
we relocate venomous snakes with the exception of a moccasin. they are mean and aggressive and will actually pursue you! a rattler, in my experience, will make itself scarce if given the chance……but we still relocate when we find ’em. we haven’t run across one on the property for several years now….likewise coral snakes and copperheads. live and let live…….just not on my place lol
non venomous snakes are welcome anywhere but my chicken house lol
Awww, you didn’t need to rephrase. I know the nature of a moccasin. We only kill rattlers because of the nature of our dogs. Our dogs wouldn’t leave any snake alone.
You’ve got that right about the moccasins…they are pretty scary. I’ve looked down into that white mouth up close and personal in the past…don’t ever want to again.
