Mississippi is once again under cloudy skies with impending storms headed our way. The weather guessers have predicted several days of nearly constant rain and very probable severe weather. Since the likelihood of ideal outdoor time anytime soon I spent some time in my little herb garden this morning. Herbs are one of my favorite things about springtime…growing them, smelling them, eating them, and drying them for future use. I’ve intentionally placed several containers to catch the rain water for watering on the days when they need it. An area rug we no longer used in the house has proven to be an excellent barrier from weeds. 🙂
I love the delicate color of onion chive blooms.
B is for beautiful basil, buzzing bees, and the blessing of bountiful herbs.
An bottom of an unused garbage can cut in half makes a perfect container for multiple planting. I really should have planted some parsley with the rosemary, sage and thyme together. But I am not planning on going to Scarborough Fair.
This oregano is ready for pruning and separating. Alas, that must wait until after the rain. I think I’ll make a pot to share with a friend.
spicy Thai basil and spicy globe basil…looks like the beginning of something wonderful.
Until next time…

I’ve never grown herbs. They look beautiful. I have a tiny, little tomato already!

My sage is full and flowering(!), my rosemary and lavender are growing, and now, if the frost is really gone for good, I can get all my other herbs in the ground!!! Planted 100 lbs of red and white potatoes the other day – the season has begun!!!
Your herbs look beautiful – you are way ahead of me!!! I love the containers with the little table and rug!!!!!
I too spent time among my herbs and violas and several scented geraniums today. The temp was up to almost 90 degrees and it was very humid but I needed to pot up some of my herbs and the geraniums. We’ll probably have rain coming in overnight so I wanted to trim my herb garden good and get some potting done and it felt good to accomplish those things. Your herbs are lovely. Tomorrow weather permitting, I’ll put 6 lavender plants in the ground, I ran out of daylight today. I don’t cook with lavender but I sure do love to run my hands thru it and smell the lovely scent. I could almost smell your herbs. I pray for a good week ahead for you. Lennie
They’re beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing… My girl loves her herbs.. as she runs by she pinches off a bit here and there.. it’s like candy to her. I love your pots as well.. especially the old metal bucket in the right hand corner.. so lovely!
Wonderful pictures. I love growing herbs too.
GORGEGOUS! My mouth is watering…that basil looked like perfection on a stem!
Judy, where are you? We miss your posts!
I’ve been up to my fanny in alligators. 🙂 For the last two weeks I’ve been trying to get something posted. It’s still being saved as a draft. This is such a busy, busy time of year. I promise I will get a post made in the next couple days…And I meant to wish you a happy birthday on our day and didn’t get it done. I hope your birthday was a great one. Thank you for the note…bloggy friends like you are a treasure.

We’ll take anything!! I’m missing you. I should talk, I haven’t been blogging much either. I’ve been sewing like a fiend and take no pictures at all. Look forward to hearing from you again. xoxo
