Back in May Nicki Lee and I swapped naked crazy blocks with each other to embellish and return. This evening I finally completed my work on Nicki Lee’s block. This swap was a serious challenge for me, because I greatly admire Nicki Lee’s embellishing talent. Her blocks are nothing less than gorgeous. She has been crazy quilting far longer than I have, and I have no doubt she is more accomplished. It takes time to hone such a craft. When Nicki Lee challenged me to swap, I accepted because I believe we only get better at anything if we push our talent to exceed our current ability. I’ve given this challenge my best shot and hope Nicki Lee is pleased with her block. This is a sneak preview…it will be on its way back to Nicki Lee very soon.

Thank you, Nicki Lee, for challenging me to this swap…I appreciate you!
Until next time…
Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them. Psalm 89:9
Lovely work for a lovely Fall Day!
Wow! I think you filled every space. Must show hubby. Are you using stitches from that book you got earlier in the year? I think your ready to teach classess now. HINT HInt……
Judy, your work inspires me! I love the little details that you come up with, like the pearls you used as the bodies of the lace butterflies. So beautiful! I probably would have thought I was doing a great thing just getting the butterflies on! LOL! You take it to a whole new level!
Honestly, there are a couple spots I wish I had the perfect embellishment for, but I don’t so I left them bare. The fabric is so pretty. 🙂 I don’t know if you noticed I made some changes here and there between the final and the picture I posted a week or so ago. I thought the magenta was too over-powering so I offed some of it. I hope hubby approves. I have worked on this piece for so long in my non-RR stitching time that I can’t say for sure if the stitches came from the book or not…but I can say for sure the combinations did not. The book has so many stitches they are bound to be in there.
As for classes…that might be a bit premature. Well, not might.
Thank you, Lennie darling. It is a beautiful fall day here. Praising the Lord and hoping your day is going great.
Thank you, Steph, you are too kind.
BUT I cannot take credit for that idea. Thankfully inspiration and imitation are closely related. The wonderful thing about seeing other people’s work is we do glean ideas and can incorporate some of them in our own work. I can’t say anything I have done is truly original…you know Solomon said “The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.” Ecclesiastes 1:9. I believe that is even true in crazy quilting. 🙂
Yipeeeeee! Can you see me jumping up and down! Judy!!!! I love all the fabulous touches you did on my block and can’t wait to see it in person…. I’m sure I’ll be staring at it for hours looking at all the wonderful techniques and goodies you embellished with. Thank you so very much, I certainly enjooyed our oen on one swap ! Big big Hugs!
Nicki Lee
I think you did a great job and I’m sure she will too!! Nice work!
Hey dear Nicki Lee, I hope you do love it when you get your hands on it. Hopefully it will go to the post office this afternoon. It’s all packaged and ready to go. Surely my sweetie will succumb to my charms and mail it for me when he goes to the store. After I got over the “fear” of working on your block, I had a good time with it. I do want your critique after you receive the block.
Thank you, again, for challenging me to this swap.
Hugs, Judy
Thank you, dear Pam. I hope you are feeling better!
Hugs, Judy
